Check the bottom of any furniture you buy. Looks can be deceiving. Old furniture may have rust or dry rot.
Open and jiggle any drawers in a piece of furniture before purchasing. You want to know how well those drawers are fitting into the furniture. If they move when jiggled, that’s not a good sign. The furniture may have been poorly built.…[Read more]

When you see something you like, wait to buy it for at least 24 hours. If it’s not the last item in stock, you have the time. You need to go home and see if the piece you’re considering would work in your space, and whether you really want to spend the money. Waiting will help.
