For some parents, the buzz of youngster alcohol use (plus some drug abuse) is viewed as typical “youth experimentation.” Some parents have viewed such activities normally and “okay providing it doesn’t get carried away.” Some consider youth experimentation with drugs and alcohol portion of becoming an adult. They see these as activities which are only a section of the risk-taking behaviors that manifest in teens and the younger generation.
However, it’s dangerous to normalize teen experimentation with drugs and alcohol. Just one experience with such substances can set activity is for repeat use and addiction. Further, there exists data to suggest a connection between experimentation with alcohol and drugs in one’s youth and addiction to such substances later in life. If parents wish to ensure their kids develop to become sober, clear-minded, and healthy, they need to ensure their sons and daughters keep from using drugs and alcohol.
Drug Experimentation Can cause Addiction

Previous studies suggested that most teens reduce and sometimes cease substance abuse after they enter adulthood. However, new information funded by the National Institutes of Wellness published in JAMA Network Open learned that today’s teens typically tend not to transition beyond using alcohol when they reach adulthood, in particular when these were already exhibiting addictive behaviors during adolescence.
Based on the findings of surveyed adults who’d used drugs repeatedly within their youth, 60% reported continuing to test out drugs in adulthood. Conversely, adults who hardly ever tried substances in their youth or who didn’t try out substances in any way had lower rates of drug use
